Get ready for some fun info about your nerves. This Psychology Today article says time with friends is better than exercise for dealing with stress. It’s all about your vagus nerve, reversing the stress instead of just making it feel better, says neuroscientist Steven W. Porges.

I want to show this to nursing students and say, “This is what ‘being with’ is all about. This is where how you are matters, and not just what you know and do.”

I want to remember this when I feel like retreating, and get myself near someone dear to me, instead.
