comics in health care and healing

July 30, 2012

Good uses of comics in health care and healing were covered today on CBC radio’s The Sunday Edition – for med students learning about ethics, for people coping with losses, for health education, for engaging people in their healing, and for people who give health care and people who require health care each getting to express their experiences.

My favourite example was about drawing-induced hypnotherapy. A doctor drew the first and last of 4 panels for one of his wee patients – the first panel showed a warthog mourning the loss of its warts and the last showed a child crying because of having warts. The child was to fill in the story which connected the two images.
